Thais That Bind

Thor's Supper Club, friends who love to cook and eat, gathers monthly to explore one country or region at a time.
To celebrate our eventful one-year anniversary we returned to an Asian theme, with which we began this culinary saga, and cooked Thai food: dumplings, pahd Thai, chile basil chicken, red curry, aromatic apple salad and golden fried bananas with ice cream, all with a lemongrass juice chaser and other joy juices.
And thanks to my dad, who bequeathed his marble-top bar to the Club, there will be many more joy juices to come.
Our guest artiste, Kevin, gave us a primer on knife skills. We also took in some last-minute guests--recruits thinking about attending the college where we work, and their parents. You know what they say about there always being "room for one more."
Thor's Supper Club is about more than just food. It's about weathering worries, sharing victories large and small, good old-fashioned gossiping, holding each other accountable but also allowing each other to fall into fallibility, discovering the range of emotions that allows us to call ourselves human.
"Always keep in mind the amazing alchemy taking place between the energies of the ingredients and the energies of your heart, head, and hands. These are important keys in understanding the connection between your kitchen and your spiritual life." from The Sacred Kitchen
